$500 New Connection Bonus

Take advantage of a $500 New Connection bonus when you connect an existing home to the Multinet natural gas network. A natural gas connection is the first step to connecting gas appliances and enjoying the reliability and convenience of natural gas in your home.

A New Connection Bonus must be claimed with the installation of the first natural gas appliance in your home.

FAQs about our rebate offers


$500 Our New Connection Bonus is for existing homes getting a new natural gas connection and installing one or more natural gas appliances (which are also eligible for an appliance rebate!)
$500 Natural gas hot water, indoor flued heaters or whole of home heating systems, and pool or spa heaters.
$100 Other natural gas appliances including cooktops, ovens, barbeque, pizza ovens and outdoor heating.



Rebate offers are available for existing homes within the Multinet Gas Networks in Victoria, connecting to natural gas for the first time or installing a new natural gas appliance. A list of eligible Multinet postcodes is available here.

Appliance rebates (also called ‘cashbacks’) are for new natural gas appliances that are replacing electric, solar, LPG or wood-burner appliances. Appliances that are replacing an existing natural gas appliance are not eligible. Rebates can be claimed for multiple appliances at one time.

New build homes or properties re-connecting to natural gas are ineligible for rebates. The New Connection Bonus is also not available to new build homes.

A new connection or appliance installation must be fully completed to claim the cashback. This includes any service line, home pipework and gas meter, with at least one natural gas appliance connected.


Multinet’s rebate campaign runs from 1 April 2022 to 31 December 2022. However, the campaign period for the $500 heating rebate for major gas heating appliances installed in homes already connected to natural gas is shorter, running from 1 April 2022 to 31 July 2022, only.

Specific claiming deadlines apply. For heating appliances installed (or purchased by) 1 April 2022 to 31 July 2022, a rebate claim must be made by 30 September 2022.

For appliances installed between 1 April 2022 to 31 October 2022 (and for new connections completed in this same period), a rebate claim must be made by 31 December 2022. For appliances installed (or purchased) between 1 November 2022 to 31 December 2022, a rebate claim must be made by 28 February 2022. Connections completed in this same period (or commenced during this same period) have until 28 February 2023 to lodge a rebate claim for the connection bonus.

No rebates will be paid to connections or appliance installations completed outside of the current promotion period.


A New Connection Bonus or appliance rebate can be claimed through your eligible appliance installer (if they are one of our ‘Rebate Partners’), or our Cashback Website.

Your appliance installer may offer the rebate as a discount on the price. If so, it should be itemised on your installation invoice. Your installer will be reimbursed by Multinet – no further action is required by you.

Alternatively, visit our Cashback website to make your claim once your gas connection has been fully connected and/or your new appliance has been commissioned. You will need to provide a copy of the appliance Gas Compliance Certificate and your purchase/installation invoice as part of the application. Approved cashbacks will be paid as a deposit to a nominated bank account.

If you’re just now thinking about connecting your home to gas, speak to your local gas installer (gasfitters, gas appliance stores) for advice and ideas on how best to introduce natural gas to your home.


If you’re switching from an electric hot water service to natural gas (or an inefficient electric heater to a more efficient natural gas heater type), the Victorian Government are offering excellent incentives too. For example, you could save a further $1000 for switching from an inefficient electric hot water system to a natural gas system! Ask your plumber for more or visit for more information on the Victorian Energy Upgrades program and the Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) you could claim under this program.

If you’re looking to upgrade to a natural gas ducted heating system, you may be interested to know Bonaire is offering cashbacks of up to $200 for the purchase/installation of 4-star, 5-star, or 6-star ducted gas heaters, if purchased by 30 June 2022.
